If you were over the age of five, chances are that you did not understand what a Teletubby was, is or wanted to be when it grew up.
Pre-schoolers got the message and clear because since their debut in 1997, the energetic creatures have been entertaining tiny ones to the tune of worldwide notoriety and merchandising out the wazoo.
On Monday, May 30 at 8 a.m.(ET/PT), Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po will be returning to broadcast on Nick Jr. with an updated version of the Teletubbies series. The 2.0 version of the show will feature the characters with Touch Screen Tummies which broadcasts live action films from a child’s perspective. If that’s not enough of an upgrade, there will be new gadgets like a Tubby Phone (I bet you four bucks it’s a smartphone) and a twirling, whirling Tuby Custard Ride. Your guess is as good as mine on that one.
If you’re as much of a Teletubby N00b as I, Nickelodeon’s Noggin app will begin streaming both seasons of the original ’97 series on May 26. An awesome way to get your knowledge up in case your little diaper wearing hipster wants to test you.
