Double Dare Is Coming To Newark And I Can’t Wait

Ok, I know. My son should be the only one overcome with joy at the fact one of Nickelodeon’s staple shows, Double Dare Live will be in our hometown in New Jersey.

Trust me, he is.

However, Double Dare holds a special place in my heart.  It’s (still) one of those shows that if you grew up watching it, you WANTED to be on. It didn’t matter if you were competing in the show’s many, zany challenges or if you watched from the audience. The desire to witness Double Dare in-person is something that followed our generation all the way into adulthood.

While DD has undergone a few changes since it’s debut in 1986, I must say that the spirit of the show is still intact. It’s just as messy and adrenaline charged as ever. When I first saw the reboot I had some concerns about whether or not Nick could find a host that was just as much fun as the memories it served up. Luckily they did. Liza Koshy totally succeeds as the host, bringing her witty and playful personality to the new show.

Liza won’t be hosting Double Dare Live though and that’s fine. The original host Marc Summers will be behind the mic along with his co-host Robin Russo. The duo should bring back a ton of memories of the original obstacle course and slippery, slimed floors for 80s kids with kids themselves. Honestly, my anticipation for Newark’s upcoming Double Dare Live is two-fold; I get to revisit my childhood and have fun with my son as we celebrate his experience with one of the most fun kid shows ever to hit TV.
